2013-14 TAC Announcement and Government Shutdown Impacts

Oct 08, 2013 | Mark Gleason

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game has announced the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for the 2013-14 season, which is scheduled to open October 15, 2013. Unfortunately with the shutdown of the Federal government, NOAA Fisheries personnel in the RAM division, who would normally issue the IFQ, are furloughed as “non-essential.” That means if the budget situation is not resolved in Congress and the furloughed Federal employees do not return to work in the next few days it is highly unlikely that the Bristol Bay Red King Crab season will actually begin on October 15, 2013. Please scroll down to see the TAC’s and see our Facebook page for informational updates as they become available.
